Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
A photo appointment, or teledermatology, is a form of consultation where photos are sent by the patient and a detailed, targeted questionnaire is sent about your skin condition. This is used across the NHS and private sector as an affordable and accessible way to access specialist Dermatology services.
No, for photo appointments you do not need a referral. We recommend that you give your GP contact details, so that they can be copied into any correspondence and updated with the plan. If you want to do a video or in person consultation and have private medical insurance, you may need a referral from your GP based on your insurance provider's policy.
There are other online dermatology services but most of these are general dermatology services and don't specialise in eczema. Some of our competitors use GPs to deliver eczema based consultations whereas our doctors are UK trained Dermatologists. We keep all our fees upfront and don't require any subscription from you.
Children can use this service under their own names, but we will require proof of identity and parental responsibility.
If we are unable to make a diagnosis we may recommend an in person appointment or skin biopsy. Fees are non refundable but you will be offered 20% off the clinic consultation for new in person appointment (self paying patients only, excludes medically insured patients).
You have to be a resident in the UK to use our services.
If needed, the Photo Appointment will include an electronic prescription.
The field of eczema is rapidly advancing and it's very exciting! At the moment we can't prescribe these treatments through a Photo Consultation but we can advise you how to access them and provide them through in person consultations if needed. Please note though that the current price of biologic treatments is very expensive in the private sector.
